CONTRIBUTION OF GERDDES-AFRIQUE TO AVOID A REPETITION OF HISTORY

In 1993–1994, in the Great Lake Region, there was a small country of which a small part of the population was living in Uganda and created a liberation army actively supported by that country. The mission of that liberation army was to re-conquer its inalienable right to the Rwandan nationality as well as the need to protect the Ethnic group from which it originates.

The rest of history is well known; the ethnic minority took power, the majority was put to flight and prosecuted for genocide at the international stage. All this happened with the silence and the compromise of a portion of the international community. Even the countries that came to the rescue of the distressed populations must remain silent or else be also accused of genocide.

-In the Democratic Republic of Congo, are the same people being elected to rewrite the continuation of an incomplete history? With the same authors, the same strategies of lies and misinformation with the only difference that:

-    KAGAME is now in the role of Musovini
-    NKUNDA is in the role of KAGAME
-    KABILA in the role of HABYARIMANA and
-    Minus the powerful America due to their elections.

To avoid being taken in the traps of regional conquerors, the Congolese people should take up their responsibilities with a stronger State practicing national cohesion and good governance.

The current several diplomatic initiatives should perhaps learn from the unfortunate UN experiences in Rwanda described by Ambassador Jacques Rocher BOOH BOOH in his book « Le Patron de Dallaire parle » published by Duboiris Editions in  March 2005.

Subject: Open Letter from Gerddes-Afrique to
Presidents and Heads of State of ECOWAS on the
International financial crisis

Dear Presidents and Heads of State,

Gerddes-Afrique is pleased to bring to your notice that the international financial crisis affecting the developed countries through their financial institutions will as well affect the economy of developing countries especially poor countries.

- Indeed, the roots of the crisis are found in the uncontrolled creation of sophisticated financial instruments meeting the huge needs of budgetary requirements, the contribution to war and the uncontrolled fight against a terrorism that the minds of warmongers helped to multiply at an exponential speed.

 - Africa has the legitimate desire to have a say in international consultations on the reform of the international monetary system, but honestly does it deserve it? Perhaps South Africa alone!! Africa spent its 50 years of both national and international sovereignty begging, implementing all projects and economic directives of the «Big countries» through among others Breton Wood Institutions.

  - If Africa seeks to have one day a say in those global debates, it must start by sweeping its own doorstep.

   - Financially speaking, sweeping one’s own doorstep could well mean for the CFA monetary zone: to detach at last, with courage, from the Euro (via the French franc) and with ECOWAS region, speed up the pace to achieve a monetary union. This choice has already been made, but it had never been implemented despite its pressing need.

 - such a monetary zone will surely be powerful and, standing alone, will ensure that we are associated to major international financial and economic consultations without having, as it is today, to force to have a way which we did nothing to deserve.

Faithfully yours
