TRIBUTE TO AFRICAN UNION AND ECOWAS SANCTIONS AGAINST TOGO

GERDDES AFRICA pays tribute to African Union and ECOWAS sanctions against the self made successors of the President GNASSINGBE EYADEMA.

GERDDES AFRICA urges those institutions and International Community to go further by giving Togolese people and their representative organizations the means to definitively get rid of any attempt of dictatorship in this country.

The constitutional order needs to be restored in Togo to rule out definitively in the mentality of our leaders, coups d'Etat and opportunist Constitutions amendments.

GERDDES-AFRICA PRESS RELEASE ON THE SITUATION IN TOGO

GERDDES-Africa, deploring the death of President EYADEMA, refuses to accept the accomplished fact of the coup d'état organised by the togolese military hierarchy and exhorts all togolese democrats to associate with all African intellectual peaceful resistance against such decision.

African Union and ECOWAS must be encouraged by sub-region peoples to never accept such practices of old ages.

GERDDES-Africa call on togolese elite wisdom including the wisdom of the supposed beneficiary of this promotion so that the toglese constitution and European Union mediation remain implemented in order to enable the organisation of democratic, reliable and opened to every one elections.

Assassination of Deyda Haydara

GERDDES AFRICA heard with sadness the low assassination of Deyda Haydara.

GERDDES AFRICA invites, here, gambian authorities and singularly the President Yayah Jammeh, for, without delay, independent committee of inquiry setting, to bring out of light this assassination, and its authors unmask and punish.

GERDDES AFRICA offers its sincere condolences to Deyda Haydara family and all African press.

GERDDES-AFRICA would like to draw international Community and particularly the one of African leaders on the situation more and more unbearable of African journalists simply charged of attempting to correctly doing their work of information of their fellow citizens.

The case of Journalist Jean-Baptiste Dzilan deserves particular attention seeing that He was object of intimidation of killing at Togo since the publication of some articles.

GERDDES-AFRICA pleases togolese government to guarantee its security at moment when Togo relentlessly researches to bring about a reconciliation of all its sons and at the time of a new regulation of appeasement had just adopted in the press favour.
